Emmanuel Li
Emmanuel Li is a BAFTA-Qualifying, London-based writer-director. His imaginative tales often follow drifters and dreamers, and carry a reverence towards nature, a penchant for magical realism and a restless theatricality, drawing from their multidisciplinary background in theatre, magic, music and more. In 2019, he co-founded production collective “Big Tent Films” under which numerous shorts and music videos have been produced which have screened at festivals worldwide, as well as cultivating almost 1 million views on YouTube. They strive to craft immersive, expressive worlds with a playful approach towards genre and form, seeking out narratives that uplift marginalised voices, especially those of the queer Asian diaspora. In 2021 they were named the BFI’s "Best New Talent" for his short 'MUSIC FOR THE END OF THE WORLD'.
